ROTARY WEEK VOL 5 NO 27


ROTARY WILL BE HELPING WITH THE CITY-WIDE CLEAN UP APRIL 28TH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT , MAY 2ND, THE ROTARY TOP-TWENTY-SENIORS BANQUET AT THE METHODIST CHURCH.    NO NOON MEETING THAT DAY.


STATE TROOPER DAN LOUSSAERT WAS THE GUEST SPEAKER AT ROTARY WEDNESDAY.    HE COVERS
A 6-COUNTY AREA SHOWING A VIDEO AND TELLING
ABOUT TEENAGE TRAFFICKING.  IT'S A GROWING
PROBLEM.    IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT HIM, YOU
CAN CALL ROTARIAN JEREMY VENEGA, WHO 
INVITED THE TROOPER TO SPEAK TO ROTARY.

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING (APRIL 25TH) WILL BE HELD
AT CLOVER RIDGE AND ROTARIAN SALLY HAS PROMISED THAT THEIR FAMOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE WILL BE ON THE MENU.

ROTARY WEEK VOL 5 NO 26























































HEATHER MOORE GAVE THE PROGRAM TODAY (4-11) AT ROTARY.    SHE AND HER HUSBAND BRANDON HAVE A REGISTERED HOLSTEIN BEEF AND DAIRY FARM  NORTH OF MAQUOKETA AND LAST FALL OPENED....
 "THE KITCHEN AT MOORE FAMILY FARM",
A BUSINESS IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA, ACROSS FROM THE THEATRE AND
NEXT TO BOB THE BARBER.   IT IS OPEN WEEKENDS AND FEATURES ALL KINDS
OF CHEESE AND OTHER HOME GROWN OR HOME MADE FOOD, INCLUDING BRATS,
BREAD, AND PINT OR CONE ICE CREAM.    SHE SAID BUSINESS HAS BEEN GOOD
AND THEY WILL OPEN FULL TIME STARTING ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, AND
EVENTUALLY MAY MOVE TO A BIGGER PLACE.   THIS IS MAINLY A CARRY-OUT STORE, BUT THERE IS ONE TABLE WITH 4 CHAIRS TO EAT IN.
HEATHER, HUSBAND BRANDON AND 3 KIDS ARE BUSY BUSY BUSY.    HEATHER MILKS THE 50 COWS.

ROTARY WEEK VOL 5 NO 25


NICE TURN OUT FOR ROTARY TODAY, APRIL 4TH.      



















CITY MANAGER GERALD SMITH AND HIS WIFE FLORENCE WERE GUESTS TODAY, TO HEAR THE ECIA PROGRAM ON A "POCKET" NEIGHBORHOOD, BEING PROPOSED FOR MAQUOKETA.



THE "POCKET" HOMES WILL BE ON COUNTY LAND
NORTH AND ACROSS THE STREET FROM SUNSHINE AND
ON THE CORNER.    ALL 10 HOMES WOULD FACE A CENTRAL NEIGHBORHOOD COURTYARD.    THE BACK OF HOMES, (MAINLY THE GARAGE) WOULD FACE THE STREET.     THREE HOMES WOULD BE BUILDT FIRST AND ALL 10 COMPLETED IN 3 YEARS.    THERE ARE FOUR
HOME DESIGNS TO CHOOSE FROM, ALL NARROW HOMES.    THE COUNTY WILL SELL THE LAND AT A LOW PRICE TO THE DEVELOPERS AND THE CITY WILL PUT IN FUNDS FOR STREETS AND UTILITIES.    THE PAYBACK WILL BE NEW TAX REVENUE FROM THE "POCKET" NEIGHBORHOOD.
