ROTARY WEEK VOL 4 NO 22

FRANK ELLENZ, MAQUOKETA PUBLIC WORKS DIRETOR, TALKED TO ROTARY
TODAY (MARCH 22ND) AND DID A GOOD JOB SPEAKING ABOUT LAST YEAR'S
BIG "STREETSCAPE" PROJECT AND TOLD WHAT IS COMING UP THIS  YEAR.
FOR ONE THING, HE MENTIONED THE LITTLE SNOW PLOWING HIS DEPARTMENT HAS HAD TO DO THIS WINTER.   NEXT YEAR'S ORDER FOR  SALT WILL BE A COUPLE TON LESS THAN THIS YEAR.   THE CLUB THANKED
HIM WITH APPLAUSE FOR THE EXTRA WORK HE HAD TO DO REGARDING
THE DOWNTOWN PROJECT.

FELLOW ROTARIAN TOM BLEY WILL BE HOSTING THE CLUB AT CAMP SHALOM
NORTHWEST OF MAQUOKETA ON APRIL 17TH AND WILL HAVE AN INTERESTING PROGRAM.   IT WILL BE AN ALL-SERVICE MEETING WITH
MEMBERS OF OTHER CLUBS ALSO PRESENT.

THE ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP DINNER (FOR TOP 20 MCHS SENIORS) WILL
AGAIN BE HELD AT THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON
THE NIGHT OF MAY 17TH.

ERICKSON ALONG WITH HER HUSBAND REYNOLD.    SHE'S A RETIRED  TEACHER AND HAS PREPARED A PROGRAM ABOUT HER FATHER, ERICK, WHO WAS IN THE 30TH INFANTRY DIVISION DURING WORLD WAR II.   HE RETIRED AS A MAJOR.   SHE HAS DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ABOUT HIM
AND HIS DIVISION AND IT WAS AN INTERESTING, INFORMATIVE PROGRAM.

HAD A SISTER THAT DIED LAST YEAR.

KNOWN AROUND TOWN FOR BEING THE MANAGER OF THE MAQUOKETA
FARMER'S MARKET.    LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE PRAYING, BUT NOT.   AS
YOU CAN SEE IN BACKGROUND, CLYDE HARPER IS CHECKING IS TICKET
FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP RAFFLE DRAWING.    CLYDE DOES GIVE THE
TABLE PRAYER EVERY WEEK THOUGH.

CLYDE HARPER RETIRED FROM EDWARD JONES IN MAQUOKETA AND
MOVED TO DUBUQUE AND LEFT ROTARY.   HE MISSED ROTARY HERE AND
DECIDED TO JOIN AGAIN AND TO DRIVE DOWN EVERY WEDNESDAY FOR THE
MEETING.   WELCOME BACK LUCKY CLYDE.   LUCKY BECAUSE HE HAS
WON THE WEEKLY RAFFLE FAR MORE  TIMES THAN ANY OTHER MEMBER.

A GUEST OF ROTARIAN JIM ENGLAND THIS WEEK WAS MARK LYON OF
MAQUOKETA.       ROTARIANS ARE ALWAYS ENCOURAGED TO BRING
A GUEST AND MAYBE NOW AND THEN A GUEST WILL  JOIN THE CLUB.

SORRY TO REPORT, MAQUOKETA ROTARY HAS LOST 4 MEMBERS, ALL FOR
GOOD REASON.   THEY ARE, LONGTIME MEMBER AND FORMER PRESIDENT,
