ROTARY WEEK VOL 4 NO 51
DARRELL PARKER, LONGTIME DIRECTOR OF JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION WAS THE SPEAKER AT ROTARY TODAY. HE
SPOKE ABOUT THE PARKS TO PEOPLE PROGRAM WHICH HAS DONE
A LOT FOR JACKSON AND JONES COUNTIES, INCLUDING GETTING GRANTS.
TODAY, HE SPENT MUCH OF HIS TIME TALKING ABOUT PRAIRIE CREEK JUST EAST OF MAQUOKETA. THE PARK PAVILLION IS NEARLY FINISHED AND THE LAKE HAS BEEN STOCKED WITH FISH. ELSEWHERE, STILL AHEAD, THE TRAIL FROM MAQUOKETA (ACROSS THE RIVER) TO THE HURSTVILLE INTERPRETIVE
CENTER. THE BRIDGE PART WILL OUT FOR BIDS LATE THIS YEAR.
DARRELL (THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON ON WILDLIFE AROUND)
DOES A WEEKLY PROGRAM ON KMAQ CALLED "IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS".
HAS BEEN DOING IT OVER 20 YEARS. HE HAS DONE MUCH FOR JACKSON COUNTY OVER THE YEARS.....THE COUNTY IS LUCKY TO HAVE HIM....
LIVES IN BELLEVUE. ALSO, HE IS PRESIDENT OF THE JACKSON COUNTY TOURISM ASSOCIATION.
