AUGUST 14 ROTARY MEETING:
THE PROGRAM AUG 14TH WAS GIVEN BY JACKSON COUNTY ENGINEER CLARK SCHLOTZ (TOP PHOTO) AND JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR, AND FELLOW ROTARIAN, STEVE FLYNN. BOTH TALKED ABOUT THE NEED FOR A GAS TAX HIKE IN IOWA (SLOGAN: A DIME WOULD BE FINE) FOR FUNDS DESPARATLY NEEDED TO REPAIR AND/OR BUILD NEW ROADS AND
BRIDGES IN JACKSON COUNTY AND ALL OF IOWA. A DIME A GALLON INCRAEASE WOULD GIVE AN EXTRA $500,000 A YEAR TO JACKSON COUNTY FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE PROJECTS. THE GOVERNOR HAS HIS OWN IDEAS AND CONSEQUENTLY, THE MOTOR FUEL TAX ISSUE GOT NO WHERE AGAIN THIS PAST SESSION.
